What is Search Engine optimization And How Do Search Engines Work

Search Engine Optimization is a process of choosing the most appropriate targeted keyword phrases related to your site and ensuring that this ranks your site highly in search engines so that when someone searches for specific phrases it returns your site on tops. It basically involves fine tuning the content of your site along with the HTML and Meta tags and also involves an appropriate link building process. The most popular search engines are Google, Yahoo, MSN Search, AOL and Ask Jeeves. Search engines keep their methods and ranking algorithms secret, to get credit for finding the most valuable search-results and to deter spam pages from clogging those results. A search engine may use hundreds of factors while ranking the listings where the factors themselves and the weight each carries may change continually. Algorithms can differ so widely that a webpage that ranks #1 in a particular search engine could rank #200 in another search engine. New sites need not be "submitted"

What Is error 404? 4 Common Website Errors and What They Mean

Smartphone sensors can leak the four-digit PIN code to hackers

Image
Smartphones have remained the primary domain of experimentation for cybercriminals as they are always finding out ways to exploit and crack smartphones mainly Android devices. Apparently, researchers at Singapore based Nanyang Technology University or NTU Singapore,  have identified  a brand new way with which cyber-crooks can compromise a smartphone, which involves the use of device’s sensors. Believe it or not but the very own sensors of a smartphone could provide cyber-criminals the key to cracking your device. Researchers found that 99.5% of the time the method worked and their device got unlocked. It is worth noting that the researchers tested the method thrice and monitored the data from six sensors installed on an Android smartphone. They were able to correctly guess the 4-digit PIN code for the device. Researchers tried to identify the PIN code through exploiting sensors installed inside Android smartphones by letting three people enter a varied range of 4-digit number sequence

How computers misunderstand the world

“There are lots of things on the internet that are popular but not good,” says  Meredith Broussard , “like racism or ramen burgers.” Yet we are increasingly being offered the popular and not the good, and that’s just one negative effect of believing that the technological solution is always better one. Broussard has been a data journalist and software developer, and she is now the author of  Artificial Unintelligence: How Computers Misunderstand the World ,  out now from MIT Press. Broussard has been programming since she was 11, but she has come to realize that the long-held utopian promises haven’t delivered. Now, she says, it’s time to be more critical, think about the limits of computers, and stop excluding equations from the system. The Verge  spoke to Broussard about technological fallacies, why paper can be better, and why we don’t need to reinvent the wheel. This interview has been lightly edited for clarity. One of the main arguments of your book is that we suffer from “ techn

Researchers Have Recreated The Human Brain Neural Network

The human brain is a complex biological processor made by a network of billions of neurons. But unlocking the inner workings of the mind remains a challenge for scientists, and they often develop simplified models to reveal its mysteries. Now researchers from Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo have  created a model  using microscopic plates for growing and connecting neurons, cell by cell, literally. Usually, research work on brain involves growing a mesh of neurons through “in vitro cultures” which functions like a stripped down version of the human brain that can be chemically or electrically manipulated. But in vitro culture models suffer from the problem of uncontrollable growth where neurons start making random connections with each other. This tendency of neurons makes it difficult to observe the brain tissue. On close inspection of neuron behavior, they found that brain cells could be grown in an organized manner through geometric patterns. So they created a mi

Westworld Inspired Mesmer Robot Looks Just Like Humans

The dawn of artificial intelligence is here, and we might soon be able to experience the Westworld fantasy, of which we all have imagined at least once. A robot making company called Engineered Arts is definitely advancing towards such a future. It has created a lifelike robot that will freak you out with its humanoid looks and behavior. The robot’s advanced AI can understand the body language, mood and age of people it interacts with to respond accordingly. It looks incredibly realistic the way it maintains eye contact while talking and move smoothly in a natural way. Engineered Arts holds specialization in building robots and has created several robots for education, research and entertainment purposes. Recently, the company unveiled a jaw-dropping series of robots called “Mesmer” with incredibly detailed features right down to pores on the skin and individual hairs. The model in the video is “Fred” that belongs to the Mesmer series. The company claims that all of these robots have b

Microsoft CEO Thinks The World Is A Giant Computer

Nowadays, Microsoft never misses an opportunity to talk about AI, Cloud, and IoT. These are the new pillar Satya Nadella is trying to strengthen ever since he was appointed as the Microsoft CEO. Recently, while  speaking in London , Nadella said “it’s amazing to think of a world as a computer. I think that’s the right metaphor for us as we go forward.” That isn’t surprising because you can find a piece of AI and Cloud-powered technology almost anywhere anytime. In the case of Microsoft, the company is trying to put AI wherever they can including Windows, HoloLens, Office, etc. Also, they’re working to combine their AI and cloud efforts, new changes brought to Azure is a great example of that. Nadella said we should take computing to the areas where large amounts of data is available, for instance, an oil factory or a retail store. Such places with tons of sensors and data will require a lot of computing. For the future, Microsoft is working to shape Azure cloud into a backbone for its

How To Transcribe A YouTube Video

Image
A few Days ago, someone asked me! "I have some university lectures saved on YouTube. How can I convert these into text?" How to transcribe a youtube video? I replied: "So, this is a really interesting question. I’ve looked at how to download videos from YouTube before. I’ve dissected all the ways you can convert a video file to an MP3. But we’ve never looked at how to convert a YouTube video to text." It turns out, it’s surprisingly easy, with a couple of caveats. Here’s how to do it in the browser, on your computer, and with the help of someone else. The Firebug Way This approach requires you use the Firefox browser. If you haven’t already got it, download it. If you haven’t used it in a while, you should update it. This approach was tested with the latest version of Firefox (40.0), on OS X 10.10.5. Then, download and install  Firebug . For those who haven’t come across this before, this is a tool frequently employed by developers when creating websites. It allows

How to Increase Productivity According to Science

If you’ve tried all the advice from the productivity gurus to increase productivity out there but  still  find yourself drowning under the weight of your to-do list, these unconventional, science-backed tips might just save your sanity. When it comes to productivity advice, most of what we read online is simply anecdotal. If you’ve tried implementing any of these tips, you’ll instantly know that just because it worked for them, it doesn’t mean it’ll work for you, too. And then you have the more evidence-based productivity tips that are repeated all over the show. Find your perfect morning routine. Start a meditation practice. Get enough sleep. Work in short bursts, Pomodoro style. Listen to the right kind of music. Work out. Buy a standing desk. Some of this advice will work, no doubt. But since each of us reacts differently to different stimuli, much of it won’t actually make a real difference. Instead, it’s a matter of trial and error. Even if every blogger and their mother swear by

How to Wipe a Hard Drive

To wipe a hard drive means to  completely  erase the drive of all its information. Deleting everything does  not  wipe a hard drive and formatting does  not  [always] wipe a hard drive. You'll need to take an extra step to wipe the hard drive completely. When you format a hard drive or delete a parition, you're usually only deleting the file system, making the data invisible, or no longer blatantly indexed, but not gone. A file recovery program or special hardware can easily recover the information. If you want to make sure that your private information is gone forever, you'll need to wipe the hard drive using special software. Important:  See Tip #2 at the bottom of the page for information on a "simple" wipe using the format command in Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista. Follow the easy steps below to completely wipe a hard drive How to Wipe a Computer Hard Drive Time Required:  This could take several minutes to several hours depending on how b
