Mobile Devices and the Future of Windows in mobile computing
We know that Windows mobile has failed in Mobile market but Microsoft and other computer manufacturers are trying hard to make Windows work on a mobile device. The computer manufacturers are creating new devices which are tablets. They are More mobile than a laptop. Windows is OK for desktop but is not sufficient for daily use. It is making it less popular in world of mobile computing.
This is because of the rapid change in market. Microsoft know that people are using more Android / Apple mobile phones than Windows computers and it is making survival of the tech giant in the tech world a bit difficult. Users value their time they are demanding devices which can save time for them and do their job. No developer is developing smartphone only applications for Windows that’s why windows users find difficult to use their Windows computer for day to day mobile tasks.
New must have apps are now only limited to smartphones. They are only available on Android or apple store. Microsoft and other manufacturers are working on mobile devices running Windows 10. Windows store lack applications like Careem or Uber you can’t book your ride if you are using windows operated tablet instead you need an iPhone or android device to do that.
There are few devices which promise the presence of Windows in future of mobile computing one of them is a prototype being manufactured by Intel and presented by Intel in Computex event code name Tiger Rapids.
It has two screens one is LCD screen and other is E-paper screen connected with a hinge. The total width of this device is 9.7mm. E- paper Screen gives notebook like experience when it comes to writing. E-paper screen gives a way of converting a paper written with pencil to a paper with typed characters. When it comes to specs it features a kaby lake processor, SSD, Wi-Fi and USB-C type port for rapid data transfer. It has a battery life of approximately 14 hours. It will remain a prototype.
Inspiring form Intel's device Asus and Lenovo are working on devices like that. They will release their devices in the market which will be like this prototype in 2019.
We know that Microsoft is missing the Party. They are also trying hard to get their windows working on a mobile device which they could sell and steal the sales of iPhone. There is not much information available out about this device what it’s specs or how it looks. One thing we know that is a fold-able device. Device will appear in to market late this year or in 2019.
